Generally speaking, yes. Not always, though. I was religiously putting on my warpaint in seventh grade. By my freshman year of high school, I guess I felt it was too much of a production for just learning. I don’t even own any lipstick. It just goes bad in my drawer, forgotten.

To clarify, you’re not saying women tend to do this deliberately to countersignal declining fertility, you just think it’s more a side effect of a long standing habit?

He doesn't realize he contradicted his own thesis.

Yeah, it seemed that way to me too.

That doesn’t make sense. Most women I know who wear lipstick, have worn it since they were young women. If your reason for women wearing lipstick were true, they wouldn’t bother until they became older. Sounds like faulty reasoning to me.

I never liked lipstick and only wore it occasionally. Now that I am older and hair is going silver, I wear it every day. Grey/white hair sucks the colour out of your face. So I am painting it back on.

Just measure the attention women wearing makeup and high end clothes get from men compared to women doing neither. The reason they do it is for attraction first and foremost. Same with jewelry that sparkles- but that’s for other women to be jealous.

The purpose of lipstick was to emphasize fertility but it has become a socially conditioned thing now. There can be more than one purpose.
