How much involvement was there in sub-Saharan Africa by people from Europe before say.. the 1700s? Or in N/S America before the 1500s?

That 97% number is from the Charles Murray book "Human Accomplishment". Stefan forgot to include Murray's quote acknowledging that women & non-Whites had smaller numbers of "significant" scientific events in history because of RACISM and SEXISM!

Saying Paraguay didn't contribute much scientifically before 1950 is like saying Nebraska didn't. Both are true. And China, Egypt, etc. have certainly contributed to the sciences. Algebra, anyone?
