        "no white males, and... those things get produced by different people under different conditions, possibly later, possibly earlier." unless you're suggesting there's something inherent about white males that causes them to design liberal societies conducive to science

        this is one of the many places molymeme goes off the rails re: the west. i think liberal ideals are the best way to organize a society. people will gravitate toward them naturally given enough time. molymeme seems to think only the west is capable of this, for some reason.

        It's self evident that Europeans and Europeans descendents are behind most of the modern scientific contributions. But what I want is the source of the 97% claim.

        Creating science and inventions are not enough, the free market is needed as well. To often we hear about how "the Chinese invented X" or something but if said invention are left unused nothing is gained.
