Germany fired multiple V1 and V2 rockets into London indiscriminately for no military reason other than to instill fear. Dresden was a factory city suppling the war effort of the nation that started the war and its citizens worked in them. They were valid targets.

Nobody had clean hands in that war. Nobody ever really does.

Yes, I think true. But it doesn’t diminish the reality that Bomber Harris was also convinced that mass firebombing would lead to demoralisation of the enemy populace. Two birds with one bomb, you might say.

Germany did not declare war on Britain, it was the other way around.

Germany bombed British civilans first and England retaliated. Eventually they went to night bombing because of the heavy losses and the US took over daylight bombing.

Not true. An English bombing raid flew off course and accidentally bombed a German city. This sent Hitler into a fury and he ordered the luftwaffe to change from strategic targets to cities. This one event may have won the Battle of Britain

Yes, this was war. The German and Japanese civilians should have known that similar tactics would be used in response.

I notice you list no military service in your twitter bio. Perhaps that explains the difference in our views on the Geneva Convention.

Sure, politicians are deeply immersed. As are policy wonks. But ask any of us grunts on the ground and you might get a less non-chalant view of the Geneva Convention. I’ll let you get back to your pen.

No Dresden was at the time no valide Economical Target anymore. It was the place most of the refugees from the lost eastern territories gathered. The large quantity of people was the target of the Bombers. It was a war crime.
