Poverty was declining about 1% per year post WW2 until the welfare state was created. The government did NOT want to run out of poor people.https://twitter.com/SMills35/status/1159651100582207488 …

What are you talking about? The poverty rate has remained range bound between around 11-14% for about 50 years.

Poverty is not an objective measure. Many people in the world would feel luck to be in poverty in the US, thus all the illegals that come work as cheap labor. $5 per hour beats the heck out of $5 per week.

The "minimum wage" was the worst thing to happen to the American worker, and "Welfare" was how the Dems bought the black vote. THAT was the REAL migration, not the bs "party switch" hoax.

Perfect observation! "No poverty, no power" and that is unacceptable to the left's totalitarian inclination.

Progressives have been formulating a plot to inhibit progress since the conclusion of WW2. They divide by the so called “protected” classes they constructed. Whites vs blacks, rich vs poor, male vs female etc. “For the people, by the people” until the people become too powerful

How much of this was the welfare state and how much was due to importing millions of third world people? Point being, in a homogeneous high trust society with a healthy culture and solid work ethic, having broad social safety nets doesn't seem like much of a problem.
