False. Many tribes went extinct as the result of brutal competition for hunting grounds.https://twitter.com/Milin46745209/status/1159596718603812870 …

Despite whatever flaws they had, they didn't end up genociding each other. Genocide only happened when the European colonialists showed up, and tried to "civilize" them.

I can’t believe people actually believe this. Not only did they slaughter other tribes, they ATE them!

Stefan, not nearly to the same degree - quantum leaps on scale, but also Europe was not the only or first, the Mongolian empire certainly was much more brutal.

The different tribes stayed within their own territories. They all came together to fight the white invaders. It’s true, I’ve seen the movies.

Violence is shared across all races lol. Europeans did it on a larger scale because they were better at it xD don't see what's contentious about that tbh

The word genocide was invented for what the Ottomans did to 1.5 million Armenians just over 100 years ago.

The Aztec were new comers to the Valley of Mexico. The Mayans thought they were uncivilized. The Aztec king wanted to marry a Mayan princess. After the marriage, the king decided to sacrifice her to the gods. The Mayan king was upset that his daughter got sacrificed.

There was a war with between the Maya and the Aztecs. The Maya saw them as wandering barbarians. If you look at the flag of Mexico, you can see the eagle and the snake. That's from the Aztec legend where they stopped their wandering when they saw the eagle land on island in lake.

http://anthropology.msu.edu/anp264-ss13/2013/04/25/aztec-human-sacrifice/ … Nobody is quite sure what happened to the Olmec, perhaps they were beaten by the Aztec. The Maya also abandoned their cities. The Olmec started the sacrifices, and the Aztec perfected it as a weapon of terror.

Most people don't know this. Moctezuma's children live on! The Spanish aristocracy married the Aztecs. Moctezuma's descendants are Spanish nobility. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke_of_Moctezuma_de_Tultengo …
