Switzerland has a standing militia; individuals are issued guns for storage, and training is required. You cannot purchase most guns or ammunition without permits and rigorous background checks. Everything about them is rigorously regulated. Nothing to do with IQ.

I think it goes deeper. The Swiss never bowed their head to kings and presidents. Small kantons, used to protect themselves. Example of, to my opinion, the only (working) direct democracy in the world.

It has imho nothing to do with IQ. The attacks on their currency CHF forces the Swiss to be very innovative, just to survive. And, yes they are nationalistic. They love their country and their (canton) flags.

I just came back from Switzerland True assessment Crossed the border to Italy Wow Went from clean and on time to filthy and always late Italy still lovely but made me want to go back to Switzerland!

Italy has higher IQ than Switzerland tho. Plus, managing a federation of 8 millions is A LOT easier than dealing with a centralized state of 60 millions.
