Men dominate in dangerous jobs because of historical barriers to entry to women in these roles. Barriers created by men. Research the female shipyard workers in NJ during WW2 and what happened to them post war. Many tried in vain to keep working there!

In the last month, street crews, roofers, painters, and tree trimmers were in my neighborhood for weeks. Probably 30-50 individuals. Not a single woman. It may happen, but women aren't clamoring for these jobs. They're on the internet complaining that air conditioning is sexist.

I work mill outages. Literally 100 or more workers clamoring around the machine. Of the 100s are a handful of women. 1 or 2 might actually be a millwright or mechanic. The rest are passing out granola bars and scolding you for not wearing earplugs.

Men haven’t been drafted since the 70s. There’s reasons why we got rid of the draft
-
The selective service system is still in place and we have to register in case conscription (drafting) becomes necessary. It still exists, we just stopped using the Cold War as an excuse to conscript males. Women have no fear of conscription under our current system.

Don't get me wrong, my mom didn't put herself first either. She put her family first, too But having a dad that pursued promotions & raises so his family could have it better at the expense of sharing less time with us and his own desires, that tweet rubbed me the wrong way.
-
My brother and I are blessed with parents that both put their family first. Forever grateful for giving us a loving environment to grow up in.
