I’m actually doing better as I get older. My lag was in my 50s after a stalled career. Just graduated summa cum laude with a BS and am currently getting my masters and starting a business at 63. Great years ahead, and my 17-year-old son is knocking it out of the park at school.

No so Stefan, I speak as one that knows. When you get their, your view will change

Doesn’t this boil down to probabilities versus individual exceptions? We have all seen vibrant older successful people cut down suddenly by a stroke or illness. No one wants to be a burden to others. However, life is about bearing others burdens. I’d rather bet on my kids

So you are saying that women should have children just so that they have somebody to take care of them? Isn't that selfish? And why would children dedicate their lives to that?

When you are 18 you don't care about the toys you craved when you were 8 because you have literally changed. When you are 70 you don't care about the parties and "independence" you craved at 28. Those ideas will seem juvenile to you.

Young and old people require care and financial support. Dependancy has made people selfish. Your parents and other people’s children can now look after you for half your life, assuming your parents can be bothered. There is a terrible shock coming.

And old age is MUCH lonelier and scary in fact
