I like the point. I just think the question is, who qualifies as a descendant of a slave? I'm going to be pissed if MY taxes go up as a result. I feel like we've spoken before, so you know my general outlook and I think I know yours.

With the Fed being in full money creation mode, they could get rid of overt taxes all together. Inflation (and default whenever) could fund the gov for years/decades. Since A-Americans are only 12% of the population, they could float their tax revenue in gov bonds.

The diff to me being that I'm not proposing it as the real natural solution. MMT is supposed to be a completely normal way to run the economy forever. Since we have gov and inflation and taxes already, give the descendants a tax break that will disappear when the gov does.

I get your point. But, again, the sarcasm aside, my comment about reparations remains.

It is better than simply paying more taxes in that it establishes an improvement that is an absence of gov action, i.e. non-collection, rather than an additional gov action. BIg diff between free market and soc is that the former has no controls, the latter max controls.
