I live a solitary life. I'm better off. I am way too anxious around people.
I was just talking about this with my daughter today. We are social animals. We are not AT ALL designed for solitary lives. A single woman I know just confessed to watching all 10 seasons of the TV show "Friends" - again. I am blessed to wonderful daughters. By my 2nd divorce and lots bad dating girlfriends, I have decided embrace to single and be friends to all. As a society currently I see no confidence in the integrity of marriage.. & woman mostly are exploiters....

I am very gregarious when I am around people. But can be equally happy spending a large amount of time alone. Everyone is different. But we do need to be social to some degree. Some need it more than others. If frequent feelings of loneliness are happening, there is an issue.

My Uncle used to boast of his eternal bachelorhood. He didn't need anyone. He dated, but got out when it got serious. Lived quite the life. Then he ended it himself. In his later years he was painfully lonely and had no one.

It's good to be married and have children but it doesn't have to be as sad as that. It's not a good choice to be single but sometimes there are circumstances like death and infertility. People can still be useful and social. There are plenty of needy in the world.
