Honestly, I don't trust these statistics. In ages past, women had babies all the time when they were old. They couldn't help it. There was not an epidemic of birth defects. Although, fertility declines and it's best to have children at a younger age.
It is wise to keep in mind that "reproductive medicine" is often a euphemism for orgs that will try anything to get a woman to murder her own child. "Your child is probably going to have serious problems" is a favorite line of attack for them.
