The truth of it being a part of demographics has no bearing on its relationship to poverty. Democrats prefer their constituents to be impoverished so that they would rely on government, thereby strengthening their position of authority.

In all fairness, blue collar white ethnics were electing Dems through the 1960s until they got fed up of betrayal and left. Two different Dem parties.
