Jesus endorsed old testament law in Mathew 5:17. Seems strange to try and distance him from the old testament and saying that the new testament is better than the old doesn't really say anything good about the new testament. That's a really low bar.

Endorsed and expanded the parameters of what was considered sinful.

The law brought men to the end of themselves. They told God "we will do it" but they couldn't keep the 600+ laws. Then Jesus comes along and shows that even keeping the laws wasn't enough. We had sin in our hearts. Only Jesus could save us and restore us to holiness with God.
-
The law was perfect but it showed us the harsh reality of sin and let us know once and for all that we needed a savior. Now we get in on the perfect covenant between God & Jesus by accepting Jesus. The only sin that can separate man and God now is the sin of unbelief.
-
The law has not passed away but Jesus fulfilled it. We don't strive to keep the law. We seek relationship with God that in him we might overcome our old nature and be renewed through the "washing" of the word.(renewing the mind). Not perfect ourselves but covered by perfect grace.

You are missing the point of Jesus being the fulfillment of the law. Without the law, Jesus can not fulfill it. The Laws of the Old Testament r the glass. And the sacrifice on the cross is what fills the glass. Also the New Testament isn’t just the four gospels.

What do you think about Pauline Christianity?
-
What do you mean?
-
You mentioned the Gospels not being the whole NT so I was wondering what you thought about the criticism of Pauline Christianity and the controversial formation of the NT. Seems like you’d have to agree completely with all the early councils’ decisions.
-
I’m trying to figure out if you are trying to make me defend Christianity as a whole, trying to make me defend having the Pauline writings as a whole or all of the New Testament.

Now I see where the loose screw is. I get it now. Didn’t really see it before.

That's impossible. Speaking of Jesus, John 1:1 told us. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."The overall point of the Levitical Law was to prove that no man could keep them, they would need a Savior. The Hebrews were very defiant, alot.

Jesus summed up the law and the prophets ( the Old Testament) thusly: Love God, love your neighbor, love yourself. With that you can move on to the New Testament: Repent, strive to obey His summation of the Old Testament, live by faith in His completed work on your behalf. Amen.

Christ was the law made flesh in order for man to understand what God would be like, if he was a man. His arrival was heavily prophesied in the old Testament. Both old and new test are essentially ,equally important. For me, they reflect 2 sides of God; a masculine & a feminine.

"Love thy neighbor as thyself" is from the OT. Jesus quoted it. He quoted Mosaic law when confronting the devil in the wilderness. The Ten Commandments were at the heart of his ministry.

Concerning the Law. Paul taught this: “But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully”. Many don’t. They imagine it’s a standard we can keep, a complete misunderstanding of its purpose - to convince people they’re sinners, making them candidates for the gospel.
-
Truth is, Jesus sought to restore the Law to its high & holy place. Check out the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus never taught anything at variance with the Law...”not 1 jot or tittle shall be abolished, until all is fulfilled.” The Law must achieve this humbling purpose in Israel.
