Nonsense. The German economy was in recovery before the Marshall plan money arrived – and if extra money makes a country rich, why has foreign aid been such a disaster in Africa? Keep looking though.https://twitter.com/OrzelBialy2020/status/1154270601277792257 …

Instead of leaving Germany in a state of ruin, the Americans provided a security guarantee (West Germany), and thru the Marshall Plan rebuilt the economy and began purchasing their products. Similar in Japan... American security = prosperity.

Germany was set on the road to recovery by an Austrian economist. Got to be some irony there.

Hitler’s miracle was paid for by the bankers behind the federal reserve, it’s no coincidence that as Germany prospered in the run up ww2 America was going through the Great Depression!

Yes it wasn’t necessary funding, it was deregulation and reorganisation that kickstarted the FDR. The British Army effectively got Volkswagen up and running

Any idea how much aid Africa has hoovered up of the last 40-50 years? My hunch is that it's a considerable amount.

I don't think it was in recovery. 0+0 is still 0. The Yanks had a vested interest in "investing" there, after that - sure, Germany did what Germany always does. South Korea is a similar example.
