Nah England became wealthy because of the free market. Colonialism was morally wrong, but British colonialism jump-started India into modernity.https://twitter.com/imtanmaygajanan/status/1154073268095049728 …

Dude, you built your entire country on the money extorted from India. There are people in India, a country that once contributed 20+% of the world GDP that have not even eaten properly as we speak. So much greed. But what has it gotten you? Brexit? This must be the classic case..

Your have been free boarding and getting a subsidy on your life, and all due to your colonisation of third world, through methods that'll put to shame the most regressive in present times. All of England's wealth may be considered charity from the third world you exploited

Yep. After all the plundering, looting and massacring the native population the British left us so modern that out of the fear of private enterprises like the East-India company, India refused to accept all sorts of private investments for the next 50 years.

It wasn’t fear that caused India to descend into Socialism, it was just good old xenophobia.

Lmao it wasn't xenophobia. India was trading with the Roman empire even before Henry VIII of England decided to behead Anne Boleyn to have a baby boy with his love interest.

England became wealthy because of the Industrial revolution coupled with the colonial expansion in India. India provided the raw materials as well as the market for their finished goods. India turned into a net importer after being an exporter for centuries. That caused the drain.

Hope you know that Churchill let 3 million of Bengalis starve to death. The British were in India to exploit it's resources. They weren't here for the development and welfare of India. We are what we are, inspite of the Br colonisers, their loot and utter callousness.
