90% of plastic waste in the oceans comes from 10 rivers, eight in Asia, two in Africa. Printing this stuff in English is worse than useless.https://twitter.com/theintercept/status/1153412708609531906 …

Once regarded mostly as an eyesore or a nuisance, plastic waste is now widely understood to be a cause of species extinction, ecological devastation, and human health problems. https://interc.pt/32JKpdt

I was discussing this with a friend the other day. Half of those ten rivers responsible for 90% of plastic flowing into the ocean are in China.https://www.dw.com/en/almost-all-plastic-in-the-ocean-comes-from-just-10-rivers/a-41581484 …

It all startd in west whn they used asia's raw material 2 strt d engine of industrial revolution in their countries making them d most polluted ones.Later they shifted the production base to Asia.Still you will find large collection in Atlantic and now pilling up in pacific 1/2

But they are so shameless in passing the buck to Asia and Africa still thinking of these places as their colony. Why canot they put ban on plastics and put sanctions on those countries wo dont oblige. 2/2

Facts don’t matter. It makes us feel like we’re “good” people by taking away your right to use a plastic straw in a restaurant. Guilt and self-hatred have become the Left’s two best friends.

The only way to tackle the plastic/climate issue is through education in 3rd world nations. We in the west can do everything possible to stop it, but until Africa/Asia up their game, it’s literally a loosing battle. Don’t waste BILLIONS on pointless ideas. Treat the cause.

My favorite part is where recycling is pushed so hard in the USA, and the recycling centers here ship it to China to be dealt with there. We don't reuse it.

Is that why most of the plastic waste exported & dumped in Malaysia has the name of British supermarkets & products on them. Malaysia now intends to send it back to its source.
