No parent should allow their children to be drafted. If one were to resist anything, it should be this.

Agreed, except for perhaps in the actual defense of a country, in the case of a hostile invasion of said country.
-
At that point I suspect any man worth his salt would volunteer. We fought off the only invaders in US history (Britain) - twice - without a draft.
-
Excellent point. But in the case you are scratching the bottom of the barrel for "men worth their salt" you may have to forcibly enlist those who are not. At which case your cause is probably already lost, but what is your suggestion as alternative? (Curiously asking).
-
No draft, but take the Constitution seriously and encourage well regulated militias. Sort of like Switzerland does (w/o being mandatory). There are a lot of militia movements in the US, but they are framed as 2nd amendment radicals rather than patriots.
-
My belief is that only under dire circumstances should conscription occur. But I completely understand the opposition, even in such circumstances, to forcibly enlistment.
-
Don't get me wrong, I can see the argument for it in the case of invasion too. The underlying moral principle of it though remains screwed up though.
-
Yes sir. Especially when fighting foreign wars.

The main structure of armed services is the wealthy abusing the poor. The poor fight the wars that the wealthy start. And.. all military service abuses human bravery, even those who succumb to a family duty such as McCain.pic.twitter.com/gQVe88vmyn

Nearly all of that applies to slaves, except you do have a chance for family, and most likely, they’re gonna be someone’s property too.
-
Not to mention you don't get to decide if your family gets sold off or who you get to marry to create said family.

The constitution should've at least specified that a Congress that votes for war is required to send their own children to the front lines.

However, Stefan some young people need to be drafted to be able to learn discipline and duty after being raised in a chaotic world!

I am inclined to agree with Hippolyte Taine that democracy is to blame for conscription.
