I'll add that I know a few priests personally and will say that many of them enter priesthood after being sexually abused by a priest themselves as kids. To many it is a way to stay close to and love God in spite of the horrible things the church did to them.

The huge difference being , that the catholic church institutionalized child abuse , protected the abusers and silenced the victims.... plus they’re supposed to be “moral” examples.
