It's really easy to understand why its such an issue for the Dems; Its an entirely new single issue voting demographic that the Dems can hold on to, specifically after the census if they get their way. They don't care about the immigrants safety, let alone American's.
The border situation is only a “crisis” if you want to save America. Otherwise, it is exactly on plan.

To be fair historically conservatives haven’t cared either. They wanted cheap labour & gave little thought to future consequences. We all know if they had wanted to they could’ve done something.

I wouldn't say conservatives as a group, but elected officials on big businesses payroll is a more apt assessment. I think if you polled a majority of people prior to Trump, they'd all be for immigration reform and for enforcing the law. We've all seen the clips.
