Having of some arab descent isn't incompatible with being a Christian mate. Parents were from Sicily, raised Catholic. As far as 'atheist' goes so is Billy Joel. That's as clear an answer as was requested.

Haha there is no such thing as a “Christian atheist.” Plenty of atheist Jewish people though.

Bizarrely there is, especially the cultural Catholics. Damn they love that stuff. If what you want to roll with is that jewishness is separate from religious faith, you can't ignore that the contrast does exist too.

A cultural Catholic may be agnostic, but I have never heard of an atheist Catholic. Stefan is quite right. One can identify as Jewish and still be an atheist. According to Jewish law, anyone born of a Jewish mother is Jewish. Belief or practicing Jewish law is not required.
