the Australian government did the same here in the "80's and now possible mental patients stay in many local police holding cells or end up committing suicide...

Mental patients dont vote, EX felons are about to vote.

Many patients from closed mental institutions ended up on the street, homeless and destitute. The timing of closed facilities matches with the emergence of a level of street population that scarcely existed when I was growing up in the 60's & 70's.

I like 1840-50s numbers. That was before they starting making psychiatric illnesses out of thin air.

And quadrupled its number of single moms, which creates an explosion of mental illness, myriad other social problems!

More likely, in homeless shelters.

“Cruel to be kind” seems to be the motto of the mental health profession by shutting down institutions that, while by no means perfect, afforded a better life than homelessness and jail. And the patients and society suffers, while some psychiatrists get rich.

Is called, 'Care in the Community' here, which basically means mentally unwell people get turned out on the street.

Jail is the new State Hospital, literally
