The radicals of both parties want to either blame immigrants, racism/bigotry or any excuse that their respective bases will listen to and Asians are easy targets to both radical groups because they kick too much ass. It's poorly worded, but he's firmly against identity politics

We got through WW2 without shooting Japanese-Americans on our streets and that was a pretty “ hot war”. Some even became distinguished military units. Yes, I know about the detention camps, but hardly what Yang says he fears.
