Kamala Harris is as Indian as she is black – just as Barack Obama is as white as he is black. The fact that both identify as black tells you where the real privilege and power is these days.

Regardless of how they self identify, the public always identifies anyone who is mixed race as black. So don’t act like they are doing so for some political advantage.

I upvoted, then changed my mind. I'm mixed race. Identifying as white isn't an option if you visibly aren't, even if you have a white parent. If you're black or brown there is however more advantage in playing it up than playing it down

I loathe identity politics. It’s fine they identify as black, but just don’t use it. I don’t care if someone is teet pink, as long as they do what’s right. I never cared what color someone was but they are trying to force me to. It’s evil
