The EMTALA Act of 1986 already says that you have to be treated by a doctor if you come into the emergency room, regardless of ability to pay.

It is impossible to have a “basic human right” that is supplied from someone else’s labor.

Not if you tax the living hell out of the general population to pay those doctors. That's how we do it in Canada. And then we wait...

the debate seems to center around rights/no rights. but there is also duty/responsibility. As humans we innately have our negative rights but there is also the duty to care for others IF WE CAN.

Exactly! US docs are FORCED to decrease (&/or eliminate entirely) opioids for patients, regardless of established medical need (even for cancer patients) JUST so opioid use numbers can be lowered despite the proven fact that opioid deaths are nearly 100% due to illicit use.

A human tribe or nation takes care of its sick, infirm & aged, as a matter of course, & so long as the state poses as our nation, one has a right to expect this of it. On the other hand, it is not a genuine nation:https://twitter.com/rogerahicks/status/1055005538386358273 …

Although I hate how socialists argue "need not survival of the fittest in a wealthy nation", I do believe it's reasonable to draw the line at health care. Equal opportunity is desirable so that everyone's talents may manifest, I have similar reasons to be pro health coverage

I know you've explained this before, but I didn't follow it last time. Can anyone recap why Stefan thinks this?

Doctors did not go through years of school, residency, money to work for free. If we don't pay doctors, there are no doctors.
