It took only 10 years - 2006 to 2016 - for the Internet to be subverted and corrupted. The greatest potential for human communication and enlightenment - the gateway to a golden age - was undone in about a decade. Optimism is dangerous.

Same as podcasts. Podcasts can be destributed to thousands of people. Newspapers, radio and TV could not be produced by one, while podcasts can. Who cares about YT and FB algo, no Stefan, Internet is not dead, not yet.

That's the entire idea of the blockchain, right? It's decentralized, so one entity can't go in and change or erase data. E.g. if Twitter used the blockchain, they could choose not to show a tweet, but the tweet could never be erased bc anyone could read it from the blockchain

I like BTC. I have bought and sold BTC and other cryptocurrencies. And I think blockchain technology has many potential uses. But the market for BTC is controlled. By whales. Perhaps that will lessen over time, I don't know, but decentralization did not fix that unfortunately.

Distributed is a better term. Internet needs to be sufficiently distributed and be sufficient anonymous to keep/make it free. There are efforts in that direction.
