It took only 10 years - 2006 to 2016 - for the Internet to be subverted and corrupted. The greatest potential for human communication and enlightenment - the gateway to a golden age - was undone in about a decade. Optimism is dangerous.

Just know humans. If they get a hold of something like that they will use it to achieve whatever their goals are. I am not sure why we ever though the huge billion dollar companies were any different than the oil barons of old. Having a hold on most human comm is true power.

As far as Tyrants go we got pretty ok ones. The crazies are at the gates, but only just now getting high office, like AOC and her ilk. We have at least ten or twenty years before the whole government looks like that.The Culture might correct, but I doubt it we are in for a fall.
