I'm in process of finishing up new edition of book that covers discipline w/o hitting, yelling, arguing, bribing. Targeted for dads too. Hits a lot of your hot-button issues. I'd love to send you copy if you're game; if so let me know where.

Someone needs to become a believer in spellcheck. I was raised with 12 siblings and spanking was wildly ineffective but I was going to perpetuate it with my kids without a second thought until I found freedomain. Thanks

They're spanked because their Kiddie Prison worshiping parents have nothing compelling (or interesting) to say. That's why, when the money/goodies/free rent stops, the kids immediately shelve them.

I'm thinking your no-spanking probably stops being an effect tool once the child-in-question's IQ is below a certain cutoff point. Not sure where that is, but I bet there is one.

I'm not into the science behind this. But one thought that I have about it is that children who are too much raised in peaceful way grow up thinking the world is kinda like a rainbow. Don't react properly when attacked for example. My mother used to beat me...

Different kids respond differently to different stimuli. Some kids are born not wanting to disappoint their parents, and a stern word or look will do. Another child born to the same parents will laugh knowing they can get away with anything with no fear of corporal punishment.

This is the statement of someone who knows they are wrong, but don't want to confront that reality on a conscious level.
