I disagree. I suffer from ptsd. cannabis is really what turns off the war in my skull, and makes me able to be around people. And yes, i tried without.. didnt work.. tried with the pills, got fat and depressed.. using cannabis i get to feel human again.

I understand that marijuana has some additional purposes, and I certainly sympathize with your PTSD, and I’m enormously glad that it is helping. I’m talking about recreational abuse.

Its good/bad/neutral for you, depending on the person, the context and the dose. Is it good/bad for you is like asking if food (in general) is good or bad for you.

Any addiction is bad (coffee, sugar, and chocolate included). There are some health issues weed can help with, but most of the people who smoke it, don't do it for those reasons.
-
There are even more people who are using it to cover up mental illness because it's easier than confronting it in therapy and exasperating it over time. In this way, they only feel 'okay' high. This is the addiction.
-
Drugs are a way of avoiding life. For a shorter or longer period of time. As is the case with many things. Drugs often are effective at changing your mood. Hence they can be used to cover up mental processes.

Whats worse for me is the crippling anxiety and depression that developed as a child. Months of unbroken darkness that Ive had to navigate unaided for so long due to lack of education, resources and self knowledge.Psych meds are a joke and the side effects are horrendous.

The first time I smoked cannabis was when I was 30. It was life changing. It allowed me to function. My wife who has had a much more traumatic life than I have, its changed her life as well for the better. We are great parents and hardworking people who fight horrible demons.

We arent victims sir. We are survivors of overwhelming odds and we refuse to go gently into the abyss we have felt ourselves inexorably drawn. But thats just what an addict would say right? If your life is in m shambles and you are using weed as a scapegoat, weed isnt the problem
