It's a feedback loop Stefan. Without rankings more smart kids will be dispersed throughout the local schools.

Ranking schools leads to fraud and misrepresentation of data. Been there and seen this first hand.

Kiddie Prisons don't teach logic for a very self-interested political reason. The kids would realize that the entire system is bogus.

Exactly. When schools compete we are all better off. Better schools mean people will move to go there. It can bring more jobs to the area.

I will say school rankings are part to blame for the administration sucking down funds to improve the aesthetics of a school and not it's education; since the admins at the top want to make themselves look good and get better paying jobs
