Don't philosophers look into everything? A lover of knowledge that's the definition or part of it. Regarding just philosophers I haven't read many other than Plato, Hegel, Hume, Locke, Emerson and that cursed jargony Kant lol I'd love recommendations tho.

This is my point. I want to know which school of thought resinates with him the most. I’ve been a fan of his podcast since 2015 and would like an honest answer—definitely was a clever response, though.

Psst read Johannes Climacus's "Unscientific Postscripts" and you'll apprehend Stef's reply. Oh and you might also realize that Hegel pulls a lumbering sleight-of-hand in proclaiming that "Motion" is found in the category of Logic.

Yeah a lot of the Renaissance and enlightenment era giants didn't stand the test of time lol but they're not useless.

Understood, but which would you say influenced you the greatest? If the answer is none, point taken.

Reading other philosophers are important to read, because they are "checkpoints" in human thought. But if you dwell on those checkpoints, you will never discover something new. They are meant to be springboards, not hangouts.

What new philosophical discovery occurred in the past 50 years? I am asking this genuinely
-
Philosophy discoveries happen everyday to the countless people studying philosophy on their own, seeking self-actualization. Just because it's not put in a textbook doesn't mean there wasn't anything new being "discovered." Education is a tool. Souls are what matter.

I admire your patience and endurance at explaining what thinking is. It seems to be really difficult for some people.

On the questions of Schools, Leo Strauss has made some useful comments. Following the thought of someone who sees more than you do is appropriate and approaching questions in characteristic ways in such schools becomes a habit. This is generally how philosophy exists.

This one would "follow Mike Cernovich into an intellectual battle" as flattery when it's Mike's birthday. Interesting posturing but the Internet never forgets.

Philosophy is a way of thinking about the world, the universe, and society. It works by asking very basic questions about the nature of human thought, the nature of the universe, and the connections between them. Philosophers dont follow, they philosophize
