It is nice when you can stay home or have grandparents to help. Unfortunately, not everyone has that option.

Yes, you do. Life is a series of choices. You can choose to raise your children, or have your husband do it. Plan accordingly to raise children with love and attention that they deserve.
-
This is cool and all but not very realistic.
-
It is entirely realistic. What makes it non-realistic? Having kids is a choice. When to have kids is a choice. Planning who will take primary care of said kid is also a choice.
-
humans will never be able to always make the right choice because we don't live in a vacuum. Sometimes the right choice can quickly become the wrong one do the countless outside influences like accidents, Death, Global changes making people jobless like we see happening now.
-
Grey areas aren't the point. The vast bulk of people can form rational plans and execute them properly. Will this not work for everyone? Of course not, but that doesn't you appeal to futility and give up.
-
That is already happening, it is also one of the reason birthrate is dangerously low is so many countries. Raising children properly on a single parent income is becoming increasingly difficult for the vast majority of people. The way things are going...
-
Soon we won't have much a choice period.

Exactly why I told my wife I never wanted to put our daughter in daycare. I don't want to go to Gladiator School for manslaughter.

Meh day care is actually extremely expensive. They get higher than minimum wage. All these stories about abuse in day cares...the abuse is always by people with similar and violent ummm cultural practices. Def better to stay at home than pay another mortgage for abuse

It IS a career. It is NOT a stepping stone. This job is what it is. No amount of extra education, or certification, or graduation. There is no next step. But people here do not value their elders, and by way of that...me and those like me.
-
I think that work is very honorable. That is why I will take care of my parents the best I can when they are older and I am currently taking care of my children the best I can so that they will want to be around me as I age.

No one, paid or otherwise is going to take care of your spouse, your children or your money like you would.
