Stefan, it's because of shoes and balance. All the is pressure on the knee. Seriously, walk then run barefoot and wear as little shoe as possible. This will build up your muscles in your ankles, calves, and feet, and it will improve your gait and take pressure off your knees.

The human body is built to run, and the knees aren't some bad guy joint that's out to get us. Get your whole leg, foot, and ankles strong. Every human should be able to run a couple miles on a sidewalk with bare feet. Picture shown is from after a half marathon in Atlanta.pic.twitter.com/iWo1M6c2rG

I run barefoot but I find it difficult to run very fast barefoot. The skin on my feet tears off. I also haven't noticed it helping my knees but I don't have knee problems most of the time.
-
Yeah. You can run faster only by increasing your cadence, not by pushing harder against the pavement. Fast or slow, braking force will tear the skin of your feet. You have to set them down and lift them up. No scraping or pushing against the concrete with your skin.pic.twitter.com/dJkUilU5mb

My time in the army did my knees in. Now my knees sound like popcorn and feel like a mixed bag of gravel and broken glass

Both knees cartridge repair & osteotomy on leg to realign knee to save existing cartridge (was too young for knee replacement). Sports & high impact aerobics destroyed joints..thought it was gonna keep me physically fit as I aged. Haha..nope!
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
