Just had a call with a brilliant woman debating having kids, and we talked about how ridiculous the belief that “men are scared of smart women” is. Spoiler – if men were genuinely scared of smart women, we wouldn’t have any intelligent people at all. Genes would have deadended.

I would pin such notions to tribal chant; people seek others who use a similar dialect, and avoid those who sound different. In other words, the people around her may not understand what she is trying to say, and be turned away do to that.

IQ is to some degree linked to genes, but one thing that’s almost just as important is upbringing and the access to nutritious food. Just because some guys might find smart girls frightening that would still probably not lower iq. As exercising the brain is just as important

Upbringing helps. Access to nutritious food is only marginal. Access to food period is a big step up from limited access to food but going from say eating Cheerios as your go-to to a salad with chicken breasts barely moves the needle

I’m sure they want wealthier- but don’t know any stats on women wanting smarter men. Don’t most people like intelligence in their partner (and friends) unless they brag about it?
