In my experience, many of the smartest people have the greatest capacity to lie to themselves and others; I don’t correlate IQ with rationality much at all. Also high IQ people tend to avoid the physical labour that really grounds you in reality.https://twitter.com/Joshuhere/status/1134452845326032896 …

Reason, virtue and happiness have little to do with each other. In psychological terms: Reason = IQ Virtue = conscientiousness Happines = extraversion + emotional stability Those characteristics are largely uncorrelated and one doesn't necessarily lead to the other.

I worked in hi-tech for many years and met a few very bright people that would not hesitate to fudge or hide research data that they didn't like.

And what of us that have done excessive physical labour and are grounded firmly to reality and yet still question that reality? Not being an snarky, I’m actually asking. Because from my POV I’m having a harder time believing what I’m seeing, and I’m as ground level as it gets.

High IQ is tricky. It means a person has above average pattern recognition skills, but does that apply to the patterns in the person themselves? Can they see the delusional patterns in their own lives?

Or as I always say: It doesn't take a genius to be right or a moron to be wrong. The worst wrong people are the ones with high IQs and fancy degrees in positions of influence.

My experience too: the higher an individuals IQ, the better they are at rationalising to themselves & others their own actions & self-interested &/or ideological view of the world. People like #TonyBlair & #BillClinton are classic examples.https://twitter.com/rogerahicks/status/1045233491875713024 …

In this thread, I compare the state with #TheMatrix, not as a near-future creation by intelligent machines, as it is in the film, but as an ancient creation of man himself, which has developed over the centuries and long dominated the world. https://twitter.com/rogerahicks/status/1035814311325782016 …

Smart people I know make this mistake of expecting everyone to have their level of comprehension on everything. This makes them very stressed and annoyed with other people. Have compassion. Not everyone will be as smart as you. Have humility. Someone is always smarter.

I'm working this minimum wage job at the moment while I study and it is really freeing. I am working as a sort of cleaner, sort of customer service role. You chat, you sleep, you exercise. It's all nice.

My son used to ask us to help him type up his reports. I told him the point was to learn to do them himself. He now does it all himself and gets straight A's going into high school.
