When my publicist booked me on this show I'd never heard of @StefanMolyneux and did zero prep for the interview. He was perfectly cordial to me and came across totally reasonable. I knew nothing about his opinions on race/IQ, white supremacy, disconnecting from parents, etc.https://twitter.com/C_Kavanagh/status/1133656722248126464 …

True skepticism requires a thorough examination of all things free from mob opinions. It’s a lonely road that doesn’t include soft back peddling.

Informing yourself about someone (and their views) does not entail capitulating oneself to mob rule.

I don’t listen to what others say before I form an opinion about someone. I do that so as not to bias my opinion. If you form your opinions before you meet someone you aren’t being objective.

I don’t understand what one has to do with the other. Doing research about someone is informing your own opinion. Michael could of looked him up, watched a few videos of him & even read some of his tweets. What does that have to do w/mob rule?

Maybe. Consider, I have never read or listened to anything from David Duke. His reputation precedes him. I already have a biased opinion of him though I’ve done no research.

If the body of the reputation is so large prior to me doing my own research, it is prohibitive to reaching an unbiased opinion.

I’m simply saying this: if I was a public intellectual & was going to put out a conversation I had w/someone, I would at least try to do a bit of homework & inform myself about their ideas. Mainly because this would help me have the most informed & cogent conversation possible.

It was an interview, not a conversation; he’s not under any obligation to figure out my ideas, when I’m interviewing him about his arguments.

Apparently exhaustive research of an interviewer is now mandatory.

Your original point was about the mob. The question I had was, how is doing a bit of research for an “interview” entails that one is “back peddling” to the mob? (as you suggested). Weather or not research is mandatory for an interview seems to be a separate problem IMO
