Government control of currency is a modern form of debt slavery/serfdom, because it causes babies to be born in debt. In America, babies are born owing hundreds of thousands of dollars. Just think about that the next time some weasel expresses concern for “the children.”

I guess you don’t like social security? Even though younger generations have to pay for older ones, won’t they eventually benefit later in life too?

Societal security? You really think governments are currently providing the West “societal security?”

Maybe not but I’m looking for a counter argument when my leftist friends make this one. Lol

I would recommend they do some research into social security before they assume it's guaranteed just because they pay into it. There are ways you can be disqualified or have your ss checks greatly reduced.

Find yourself suddenly unemployed at 57 and somehow remain unemployed for 5 consecutive years? Those social security checks = gone. That's just one example off the top of my head.

Hey thanks for replying, so true. I’ve sent a message to Thomas Sowell, I’m very interested in what would be a better alternative.

Just wondering though how could someone at 57 with a lifetime of experience not find a job for 5 years? Even if it meant working at say McDonald’s or Wal-Mart? Or maybe be retrained for another career?

Pilot who has any disability which doesn't qualify for much SSDI, but disqualifies him/her from continuing that career. And (situation/location dependent) is rejected from other jobs for being overqualified, or whatever other faux justification.

There could be other circumstances too, which will vary based on individuals. Then again relying on social security is basically taking a huge gamble that the laws/qualifiers will not change, ever.

I think it would be better to have more extensive financial management/long term planning courses in High Schools. Teach teenagers how to save & build income, avoid excessive frivolous spending, etc. before they even enter the job market.
