I havent hit perimenopause let alone THE menopause (as they like to call it in the UK) and I have 5 kids (last one at 43 naturally conceived) but my childless menopausal lady friends are all quite content with their choices and happy to play "auntie" to my kids.

You'll never know the joys of being a parent. And with all of the trials and tribulations, I'd never ever trade places.

Perhaps these women are just sociopaths who, if they had children, would have abused and neglected them. If they didn't like kids enough to have them when young, why would old age make them all wistful and sad about it?

Id speculate only the women that put off having kids feel this way. The women that NEVER wanted kids probably don't feel this way.

When did talking about menopause become "taboo" again? I've been hearing about it for 30 years...

I see this a lot...agonizing indeed. "Cognitive reframing" can be a powerful tool...but there are limits.

From my anecdotal evidence I would say that is false. We have lived our whole life without children. It’s ok. Especially if you have god. Nothing in the material world can fulfill you, not even children. Only God.
