It wasn't. We still don't really know of all that happened. Just wondered why he'd been taking so long to come home and after receiving no calls from anyone, we started calling around. On a hunch, we called the hospital and they said he had died.

There is a genetic factor among people of European ancestry known as Factor V Leiden that leads to a higher probability of blood clots. Not sure if that would apply to him.
