I live here because I was born here and this is where my job is. I don’t think the states of California, New York, and New Jersey are going to empty out any time soon. But, believe me, the day after I retire will be my last day in L.A.

Because they need to keep steady income for their children / family. Many mother's simply can't afford to take endless time off work. There's also things like loss of career momentum in terms of promotions etc. which often disproportionately affect women.
