Don't get me started on nurses. My wife is an ER nurse, and her pay is the same as the one who drinks coffee and teaches mothers how to breastfeed. One sometimes has no breaks and is exhausted from saving people's lives, the other gets a nice couch.

I can never wrap my head around the “we should pay X more” argument as if the individual was working that job due to being compelled to do so. As if they weren’t aware of the salary when they AGREED to trade their labor for currency.

Not to mention so often the term “we” is used when comparing paying a private employee (ie a pro football or baseball player) who we voluntarily give our money to and government employees (usually teachers) whose wages are garnered from compulsory taxation.

If I were to go into a form of employment that wasn't a trade, it would be medical. There are massive shortages of medical workers everywhere from what I can tell.

Some of it is caused by academia. I know white males who are not accepted into med school. One school even asked for political party on the application! They prefer women and foreign doctors.
