I used my paid family leave as a man recently for the birth of my 3rd child... and when I was set to return to work I had my union tell me I had no benefits and had to work 6 months straight no days off to get my benefits back

I am a stay at home Mum, (*sniff*, nest is now empty). Husband works and I get to spend the money, a win-win situation for me.

So what happens when THE BOSS takes "family leave?" "The government" pays for his/her leave? These family leave people are simple-minded.

My wife is building her own business and stays at home. It can be done, yes I also help a lot with the kids (which I believe more dads need to) but we also play to our strengths. She is better at business execution than I am.

Over dinner, after hearing what-I-want-to-be-grow I grow up from big sis, our 6 yr old daughter announces: I don't want to go to work. I want to look after my kids.

(Note: my post has older sis picking a future career.) But, It's also not okay to impose careers on all women - which is what is being done by necessity, by design. Some don't do better as primary bread winners, yet are forced into it-often by gov't policy. I live in BC, BTW

Exactly! My husband & I discussed this in depth. We decided with his income alone we would be better off with me being a stay at home wife/mom. It's a conversation every couple needs to have. If a couple cant afford it, they should rework their budget so they can.

Not every man makes enough to comfortably provide for his family on his own. For many households even with fathers in decent jobs having one parent quit their job would be devastating financially.
