Rare earths aren’t that rare, they’re just difficult to extract unless you’re happy with extensive pollution, which the Chinese are fine about.

We have deposits of rare earth metals, yes the same ones China supposedly has a monopoly on, 35 miles from my house. The company that owns the mines is open about waiting for their chance to maximize profit when the global situation shifts.
