It still contributed to credential debasement in STEM. Where a tech diploma sufficed, a Bachelor’s is required. Where a Bachelor’s sufficed, a Master’s is needed. Companies shifting costs of training to the individual?

This is what happens when college education is oversold to students and overrequired for entry level jobs. Trade skills have high value too but are not "academic". College should focus on work ethics and quality of work over quantity of degrees sold.
