The West is a cargo cult to many foreigners. When I lived in Guatemala, local farmers making $1 a day insisted I tell them about unemployment insurance and how women get lifetime of welfare and freebies for just having a kid. To them it was riches beyond imagination.

You shouldn't have told them. We can't save the world, we'll end up loosing our hard earned wealth, toiled and payed for by our Christian ancestors, sacrificing for their children. Now being robbed by ungrateful strangers that feel entitled to something they never earned.
