When I was growing up people got guns. Desperate folks turned to back alley dealers or even designed their own. Some were lucky but others weren't. They all went through hell. Access to quality, lawful guns is a constitutional 2nd Amendment right. Full stop.

this can be flipped just as easily Stefan. Meaning, the left is wrong thinking banning works. Prohibition taught us that, Capone would not be part of history.

Times were much different in the 30s. It's not a public humiliation process now like it was then. Low income in the US is middle class in many other countries and opportunities to make it are far greater today.

Desperate women'd turn to back alley butchers? Were they so desperate that they could only get laid w/out using some sort of protection? It sounds like a series of bad decisions & not "some accident" that just happens out of nowhere. No one EVER talks about how one GETS pregnant.

A better analogy: "Why does the law require me to drive under speed limits and wear seatbelts? Do they think I might hurt other people or myself if I go as fast as I want? Why do I need to respect traffic signs?"

Besides, if I try to buy a gun in a place where it is legal, it is harder to do. Hence the restrictions on guns work.

Guns are physical objects, not a procedure. Gun laws are proven to make guns harder to obtain. Whether or not this is helpful is a different debate, but regardless your argument is assuming a double standard where there is none.
