He is right. But you need a deep math learning if you wanna handle AI or some specific field.

It isn't needed for "coding," but it's sure needed for "programming" and "software engineering." "Coding" is what undisciplined hackers do. Mostly, it is not the subjects taught in college that are important, though some are. It is more the process of getting a STEM degree.

This school, and others like it, teach their students cutting edge coding skills in just 12 weeks. They have a nearly 100% placement rate (within 3 months) and an average starting salary in the 6 figure range. No degree required.https://www.hackreactor.com/

Yeah apparently all it require is experience in coal mining. But not journalism though.

I learnt to code (self taught) and have been doing it 30+ years. I got a CS degree later in life (for Canadian immigration points). The things being taught for the degree were utterly useless and of zero value for the work I do.

Clearly so. I've been working in IT for decades. Some of the best coders I've known had no degree. More than a few had unrelated degrees like art and theater.

Nor for most other jobs. Let kids apprentice for a company and skip the time wasting and money wasting college experience.

The algorithms used by social media, social scientists, marketers, etc require a solid knowledge of advanced mathematics and statistics.

Apparently neither is a mass degree required to execute people in the are of advanced weaponry. You just need a contract worth a million or two and apple airplay devices. Apple participates in covert operations.

The 4 year college model is becoming more inefficient and out-dated for today's fast changing job market and information accessibility. Colleges are taking advantage of old dorm-life 2 semesters a year, 5 courses, 2 of which are meaningless for 60 - 90 minutes a day routine.
