No sane person is talking about governments controlling social media. If social media are going to pick and choose which arguments are allowed on their platforms, then they need to be subject to defamation laws, just like magazines and newspapers.https://twitter.com/Spectralbub85/status/1125048685321170945 …

Not disagreeing your point. But if government controlled social media you might as well be in Germany circa 1939.

Either you are a platform or a publisher. As soon as you start making editorial decisions, you have decided to be the latter. No executive at any of those businesses wants what comes with that decision, but right now no one is enforcing those consequences.

They should be treated as public service platforms (like telephone companies) and be forced to uphold the freedom of speech.

Interesting, so many who believe they are "liberal" resort to a popular knee-jerk reaction, comparing everything to Hitler and the Nazis as if it is somehow a measuring stick to compare everything else by, not saying I always trust Gov. competency but are they really the Nazis?

@Timcast has made a good argument that a president has already been set for government not to control social media. I really want to see a conversation between you, Tim & @Styx666Official about this.

It's about preventing concentrations of power. Corporations, Unions, small businesses, government, citizen action committees, and the public at large should all be in a constant state of checking it each other to prevent any single group from dominating society.

I don't get this, sincerely. I don't see how can a pro defamation law stance and the NAP be reconciled.

I wondered about this excellent point. Either Jack refused an offer, or he accepted one. Jack didn't just walk out of the WH with a gift bag. At this stage I trust only POTUS. All others are 'opinion pending'. I watch with interest…

Social media giants have, quite literally, NO right to tell us what we should & should not hear, read or watch. More so because they're blatantly Leftist. That they are doing it now is especially disturbing, with the election not far away. This needs to be stopped, fast. #smdh
