"Extremist" is only a meaningful term if referring to people advocating for and/or committing violence for a political ideology or religion. It's just used to say "people I don't like", though.

not true. the word extremist has an actual meaning in politics. just like the word radical. it describes political stances that are outside of the overton window. it can also refer to a non-compromising solution that takes on the root of a problem without regard for casualties.

But the Overton Window is itself a moving target. Doesn’t add much definition to extremism.
