It always amazes me when people criticize the senses, while relying on the senses to communicate their argument... Real philosophy starts when you forget your theories, and start by empirically examine what you are actually doing. The Truth About Plato https://youtu.be/b4KDxvz5D30 pic.twitter.com/NzYm57Yqld

What if my senses tell me the world is flat? At what point should I trust or distrust my senses?

Using Socrates as his mouthpiece, Plato argues that empirical knowledge amounts to no more than knowledge of appearances. In fact, he claims, our perceptual knowledge is at least thrice removed: it is merely knowledge of the shadows of illusions of reality.

Can't be trusted? Is this an Obey One Clashay? It's not about trust people it's about encompassing. The 5 Basic mammalian Senses do not encompass enough of the world to fully define the world ..No?

I mean, what he says is partially true. Our senses CAN deceive us. They can't ALWAYS reflect accurately the reality outside our senses (which exists), but to said that therefore we can't trust them is a bit of a stretch.

Regarding the "look at reality and not theory" that you just talk about, it cannot be understated how important that is. Look at Zenon's Paradox. The theory tells us the runner can never surpass the turtle, yet we can see empircally that it does.

That's why @StefanMolyneux always talks about reason *AND* evidence. The former without the latter can produce murderous outcomes.
